Show your coolest code – 7 minutes to code fame

Have you written a piece of code that was few lines but accomplished something very cool? If you have something useful and creative to show and you think that’s the coolest piece of code you have written, you may be up for 7 minutes of code fame. Come and show your code – there are great prizes to win. Let your code speak and be famous!

 

Rules

-         Code has to be in either C# or VB.NET. No other languages are considered.

-         The code has to be written by you.

-         If you have adapted the code from somewhere, you have to cite the resource.

-         You will be given 7 minutes to show the code.

-         You cannot use any slides.

-         It is recommended (not mandatory) to keep the number of lines of code to 30.

-         Maximum of 6 participants would be chosen to demonstrate.

-         All the code pieces will be acknowledged on Jacksonville Code camp web site.

-         The deadline to submit your entry is August 25th, 2006.

 

Prizes

-         The first 3 coolest pieces of code as determined by judges would be awarded.

-         We will also present an audience award for coolest code.

-         Each audience member will have a card to mark the coolest piece of code.

-         The audience members present will also have a chance to win a prize.

-     Every participant's entry gets 3000 Community Credit points. The winner gets 10000 Community Credit Points.

 

1st Prize: Telerik rad controls single developer license. The r.a.d.controls Single Developer Subscription License is telerik’s most comprehensive license and it includes all 17 telerik ASP.NET components. The winner will also be entitled to a Gold Support package, free product updates and new product releases for a period of one year

(Retail Value - $999)

 

2nd Prize: Codesmith Professional Single User with Premium Support (Retail $499)

 

3rd Prize: 2 Books on Microsoft Technologies

 

Judging Criteria

 

The “Cool Index” of code would be computed based on the following factors (not in any order of importance).

 

-         Purpose of Code

-         Usefulness

-         Creativity

-         Number of Lines

-         Presentation

-         Wow Factor

 

Judges

-         A panel of judges will be selected to evaluate the “Cool Index” of code.

-         The decision of judges would be final and binding.

 

How to submit your entry?

Send your topic, code description, and any other useful information along with your contact

information to me at vinay_a at [hotmail] dot [com].

 

Be present on August 26th in coolest code session at 1:50 PM to demonstrate your code.
