First and foremost, great job! I tip my hat to you, Dennis, and everyone the two of you organized for the code camp. Not so much the speakers, but the support measures. It was certainly a well organized event with only a few exceptions.
Now, less praise, more comments. The BoA Building 5 campus was a great venue. Before considering another venue for next year, consider what I thought were benefits to the location and therefor what you may want to look for in other venues.
1.The entire event was indoors. This is an important consideration for Florida where air conditioning is a must, and in light of things like Katrina.
2. There were plenty of free association areas like the cafeteria, and the landing on the 2nd floor, where impromptu meetings could occur (for those times there wasn't a session playing we wanted to see) or naps (ask Joe Healy how comfortable the couches are).
3. With the registration handouts, a venue map would have been helpful. I found several people, including support staff, wondering where the bathrooms were. Possibly an announcement just before the keynote ends (a standard from my days teaching).
As for the speakers...we discussed this at BW3, a business card, or handout of links in their presentation. The one feature I noticed in a lot of presentations was the mad rush to copy email address, URLs, and article titles. I know all of this information can be had pretty much from the web site, but some people like that immediacy thing.
This information could even be made available at the registration desk after registration is over, so that one could get information from presentations they missed but heard were good. I realize that logistically, you'd need to lock down your speakers and their presentations earlier, but its a thought.
While i didn't stay for lunch (being that close to Wasabi's was something I couldn't pass up), I did hear a few things as I am sure you did as well. I heard it was great as long as you weren't opposed to pork or a vegetarian. not a big deal for me, since if its at BoA next year, i will be a Wasabi's.
Possibly the Code camp site can be updated with the actual presentation and speakers instead of the scheduled ones. That can be preserved and when Code Camp 2006 comes up, it will be there for comparison.
I am also curious to see some stats
# of people registered
# of people attended
# of people attended who didn't register
# of people registered and didn't attend
the ratings score for each presenter / topic -- maybe like the graph used for MSDN articles (since the scores where already broken down to accommodate that)
I think that's all for me. Congrats again on the code camp.
