JAXDUG - Architecture Talk

Dennis and I discussed a new idea he had about changing the UG meeting format.  His idea is to invite a developer to discuss (no longer than 30 minutes) a problem they have at work and how they solved it.  I think this is a great idea because it allows

– developers to talk about something they know.
– you don’t need a lot of preparation time (after all you solved the problem).
– you only have 30 minutes, just long enough to provide detail but not get boring or repetitive.

We were trying to come up with a witty name but couldn’t think of one.  How about “ArcTalk”, I’ve seen Architecture Talks posted before so it isn’t anything new.  It does have a nice ring to it and kind of sums up the discussion.

What about CodEd, as in <b>Cod</b>e <b>Ed</b>ucation. It also works in your theme for talking about a problem that has already been solved . . . its already been coded . . . CodEd. Whatchya think?

I like both ideas for names. CodeEd would be good if we keep the talks focused on problems solved by code. ArcTalks is a good name for problems solved by other means besides just code such as a pattern or a methodology such as agile.
