The North Florida IT Architect Special Interest Group aka JaxDUG Architecture SIG is a professional organization whose membership is open to all who are dedicated to the art, science, and business of information technology architecture. Each monthly meeting will include a balance of social networking, facilitated group discussions, and a presentation from a peer or guest speaker.
Although the SIG is co-sponsored by Microsoft, subjects will cover both Microsoft and non-Microsoft technologies. In fact, managing multi-vendor complexity in a technology portfolio is arguably the primary accountability for enterprise architects!
Meeting content is managed by a board of directors who approve topics and speakers. If you are interested in presenting, please submit an abstract of your topic and a biography of yourself. You can send email to info@jaxdug.com. We will be creating a different alias for the group very soon.
Please join us on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 for the inaugural meeting of the North Florida IT Architect Special Interest Group (ESA SIG) aka JaxDUG Architecture SIG. This month’s meeting facilitated discussion will be to introduce the vision of the SIG and get feedback on speakers and topics that members would like the board to pursue for future meetings. The group has been founded by Jeff Barnes and would be supported and coordinated by JaxDUG members - David Strommer and Eduardo Marquez.

Speaker: Jeff Barnes
Jeff Barnes is the Microsoft Architect Evangelist for the Gulf States District where he engages with the local Architect community to help solve tough business problems with leading-edge technology. Jeff has been with Microsoft for over 8 years and has spent over 6 ½ years of those years as an architect in the Microsoft Consulting Services organization working with large enterprise customers throughout North America.
Prior to Microsoft, Jeff worked for several large insurance, manufacturing, and retail companies in South Florida. Jeff has a passion around the discipline and challenges of software engineering, recognizing that architecture has as much of a social context as a technical one. He especially enjoys the freedom and flexibility that .NET brings to the table in order solve the next generation of really hard problems.
