Topic: Jedi Mind Tricks for Business - SEO.Net

"That's no moon... it's a Space Station!"
If you've ever said that when you've realized that your awesome .Net web application needed to be integrated into a site that actually ranked #1 in Google, then you know what Jared Nielson is talking about. Proper application and database design is only the tip of the iceberg and he'll be taking the time to walk you through some of the tricks he has learned with projects that he's done.

In this segment Jared will be covering the initial stages of marketing theory and then will break it down into all of the strategies (some human-based, some code-based, and some data-based) that are needed to really hit a fully rounded e-commerce marketing strategy.

Speaker: Jared Nielson

Jared Nielsen believes that a "Jack of All Trades Is Master of None... Except Himself" ™

His twenty year career has spanned projects in "wires and pliers" networking, database architecting, software design, marketing strategy, sales management, training and documentation, business administration, entrepreneurial investment, public company creation, and strategic analysis and consulting.

Billing himself as "an IT guy that actually speaks English", he has managed to effectively bridge the gap between IT and Sales, IT and Marketing, and IT and Executive Management in a way that multiplies revenue for each project he works on.

Always willing to speak his mind and challenge the status quo, he is featured throughout the world including the front page of the Wall Street Journal, Wired Magazine, the German Financial Times, Slash Dot, CNN (television, CNN.com and iReport.com), and thousands of blogs throughout the Internet.

His work can be seen with companies such as Interline Brands / Barnett (formerly BNTT:NASDAQ), Hughes Supply/ Home Depot / HD Supply (formerly HUG:NYSE), Yahoo! Sports (YHOO:NASDAQ), CBS Television (CBS:NYSE), and dozens of other high profile projects that have multiplied in revenue due to his influence.

His blog can be enjoyed, critiqued, and railed against at www.NielsenData.com

We'll have giveaways (books, 2 1-year subscriptions for LearnVisualStudio.NET, and other items) as well as pizza.  Come and get involved!

Additionaly, elections will be held for the office of JaxDUG President. Those interested in taking up the position of JaxDUG should email me at jonathan.bates@batener.org.  As candidates submit themselves, I'll add it to this blog announcement. About Jonathan Bates

Jonathan Bates is involved in the local development community, once even serving time as the President of the Jacksonville Developers User Group.

He has had a long and storied path on the way to I.T. work. At one point, Jonathan had a near Neo-Luddite position about computers, believing them at worst to be the means to humanity's eventual slavery and at best tools for general evil. After landing a job powered by such advanced technologies as Windows 3.11 for Workgroups and MS Access, Jonathan began to change his opinion on computers. He began to believe that they might be for more than just improving the display and sound qualities on his Laserdisc movies. In time, he came to see that computers were nothing more than tools, not much different then a hammer (though not as good to drive nails with).

Jonathan Bates is an industry-certified and proven developer and trainer, facilitating the transfer of knowledge from conceptual client request to delivered and implemented solution. Jonathan enjoys sharing his knowledge and understanding about development principals with like-minded people. You can generally find him enjoying good company discussing his personal Unified Theory and how programming can be used to describe it. And if you can't find him, drop him a line with a time and place and he'll find you.

Contact him at jonathan.bates@batener.org.
