Still Room for Jacksonville Code Camp 2008 - August 23rd, 2008

The Jacksonville Code Camp 2008 is this Saturday. Have you registered? There are still spaces available.

There is some concern obviously about Tropical Storm Fay and the impact that it will have on the event. Current projections from the National Hurricane Center have the storm downgraded to tropical depression status and northeast of Jacksonville by Saturday. The greatest impact I see is to out-of-town travelers. Wouldn't be the first code camp that was gray and rainy all day.

Why Register for Code Camp?

The Jacksonville Code Camp 2008 is on August 23rd.

Why should you register for code camp? Registering helps the planners make sure there are enough of the items that have come to be expected at this events. These items include t-shirts and lunch. Registering also means that you will have pre-printed tickets for the raffle items that are being given away by sponsors and contributors.

So do your part. Don't wait until the last minute or just show up on the day of the event. Get the full effect and register for code camp!

Call for Speakers

The Jacksonville Code Camp 2008 is August 23rd and we need speakers! Speakers should register and post their bios here http://www.jaxcodecamp.com/SpeakerRegistration.aspx and then post session abstracts. A wide variety of tracks have already been proposed, but if you don't see a track that fits your session, just contact us and we will fix that.

Voting Will Open July 19th

Voting for sessions will open on July 19th. Check out http://jaxcodecamp.com/SessionVote.aspx to see the sessions and tracks that have been suggested so far, as well as add your own suggestions to the lists.

Here is how voting will work: When voting opens, each registered attendee will get to case 14 votes. These votes would represent the 7 sessions you would be most interested in attending, as well as 7 alternates.

Speakers would also be able to start offering to present sessions when to voting goes active as well.

So, for right now, attendees, list the sessions you want to see. Speakers, list the sessions you want to present. And to everyone, get other developers to participate in this and check back on July 19th to make your voice heard for this great community event.

Jax Code Camp Call For Speakers . . . sorta

JaxCodeCamp.com is live, as stated previously. And as stated previously, on of the features supported at this point is session suggestions. Anyone can submit a session for consideration. Anyone. So conceivably, potential speakers could submit sessions at this point.

In a few weeks, the voting module will be added. A feature of this module will be that registered users can vote on sessions as a way of expressing which sessions that might potentially attend. Also at that point, the voting module will support the option for speakers to select sessions that they'd like to present.

So, for now, get in there, register and suggest session everyone! And speakers, be on the look out for the addition for the voting module at around the July 5th timeframe.

JaxCodeCamp.com is up and with a few features.

You can regsiter to attend code camp, the pre- and post-events (to be announced), and/or to be a volunteer.

You can also suggest sessions that you'd like to see. And I mean you as a attendee, as well as you as a potential speaker. In the coming weeks, a voting module will be added and registered users will be able to vote on sessions that they'd like to see. Speakers will be able to select sessions that they'd like to present. The voting information should help the speakers see what sessions attendees are interested in seeing presented. The the planning committee is served as well by this information when it comes to to make the final schedule.
